Maryanne began her life on the North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand. An environment famous for its pursuit of sea orientated recreation. Spending a lot of time at the surrounding surf beaches with various boyfriends it was this environment that first triggered her interest in photography.
She began her photographic career studying at the polytechnic and University of Fine Arts. While assisting with one of Auckland's leading photographers they began a magazine "Paper" aimed as a forum for the photographic and graphic community to present one of a kind visualizations for their clients.
At 23, she left her antipodean roots to explore new opportunities in Hong Kong where she established her career in this bustling Asian arena. Establishing commission work from the advertising community and performing arts academy. One such assignment allowed her the unique opportunity to travel to Shanghai, residing at the music conservatory in the French quarter and documenting the Shanghai opera troupes rehearsals for an upcoming European tour. She was also fortunate to work with some of Asia's top musicians encompassing many of the culturally authentic sounds and instruments of this diverse area. Feeling a growing desire to pursue a passion for the rock and roll industry she decided to base herself in Los Angeles. Forming a partnership with photographer Robert Knight.
Since her arrival in Los Angeles her pathways have led her to assignment work with some of the music Industries more visible artists. These include Carlos Santana, Brian Setzer, David Navarro, Garbage, The Go Go's, Ogre, Skinny Puppy, Slash, Jeff Beck, Carole King, Meredith Brooks, Terry Bozzio, to name a few.
One of her more memorable photo shoots was with David Navarro, who insisted herself and crew be photographed in his photo machine on their arrival at his Hollywood house for an upcoming book. As one might expect the afternoon took some interesting turns landing in his bedroom, which became the backdrop of imagery that until recently graced sunsets Guitar Center.
When she is not photographing musicians her attention is currently focused on an upcoming art exhibition about women mystics and saints, from the 10th century to current day entitled "Divine Eros".
